Occupational therapy for autism, ADD/ADHD, bipolar, & other mental health diagnoses

For adults in Phoenix & throughout AZ

Does it feel like your diagnosis runs your life?

Rather than doing life with your mental health diagnosis, it may feel like it’s consuming it. Your relationships may be struggling as you try your best to exert your independence while still needing support from those closest to you, your sleep or physical health may be out of balance, or it may feel like you’re in an exhausting cycle of peaks and valleys.

You may have tried medication and struggled with managing it or its side effects or might be caught in a pattern of needing to be regularly stabilized through hospitalization or through other means. You’re craving a true sense of stability and consistency in your life, but don’t know where to start to create it.

How can occupational therapy help with your mental health condition?

This is about so much more than just treating “symptoms.” Occupational therapy takes a holistic approach to addressing mental health conditions. We'll look at the big picture of your life & routines so that you can not only manage your condition, but to learn to be better attuned to yourself and your needs. This means that when symptoms change or escalate, difficult circumstances arise, or you need to advocate for yourself, you’re equipped and empowered to do just that

Everything we do will be tailored to your unique challenges and goals. Maybe that’s creating systems that prevent hospitalization, simplifying medication management, improving communication or social skills, or laying a solid foundation for independent living.

I’m here to help you live productively and confidently—however that looks for you.

How it works

Assess

I’m here to offer you a place where you will be truly understood and listened to, not judged or criticized. We’ll discuss your condition & history as well as other facets of your life, from sleep to your social life, and your goals for our time together. This will serve as our roadmap.

Explore

Then we’ll start looking at what you really want your life to look like. I’ll help you develop new insight into and confidence in yourself as well as any underlying challenges or obstacles you might not have identified before. We’ll get to the bottom of what’s at play and address it at the source.

Strategize

Then, we’ll start taking real, tangible steps to reach your goals as we begin working on new skills, habits, and routines that will support them. You’ll be empowered with a toolbox of strategies that puts the control over your condition back in your hands.

Things we can work on together:

  • Improving performance at school or work

  • Increasing independence

  • Crisis prevention planning

  • Navigating conversations with people close to you

  • Nervous system and emotional regulation

  • Social skills and communication

  • Relaxation and stress reduction techniques

  • Improving physical health

It’s possible to live a full life with your diagnosis (not in spite of it).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Some forms of therapy can attempt to extinguish certain behaviors related to autism. Occupational therapy, on the other hand, is focused on supporting you in them or empowering you to make changes if you wish. We can work on just about any area of life together, whether that’s independent living, sensory or cognitive skills, or communication and social interactions.
